Use the controls at the top to choose what to display. You can combine any project layer with any state policy layer.
Project Layer — check one or more boxes to show solar projects:

Project Locations: all projects as teal dots

Color by Ownership: dots colored by ownership type

Color by Size: dot size scales with capacity (MW-AC)
State Policy Layer — check one or more boxes to shade states:

LMI Category: Low-to-Moderate Income policy classification

High Level Findings: darker blue = more community solar programs adopted

Capacity Limits: capacity limit policy category
Exploring projects: Click any dot for full details (location, utility, ownership, capacity). Click Back to Overview to return.
How to Use This Map
Use the controls at the top to filter and customize what you see. All controls can be combined.
Filters — narrow down which projects appear:

Jump to State: zoom into a specific state

Min System Size: show only projects above a capacity threshold (MW)

Filter by Year: show only projects from a given year of interconnection
Energy Burden Layer — toggle on to shade census tracts by the percentage of household income spent on energy (data from NREL's SLOPE tool):

Low (0–4%), Moderate (4–7%), High (7–10%), Severe (10–14%)
Color by — choose how project dots are styled:

Default: all projects in a single color

Utility Type: colored by utility category

Ownership Type: colored by ownership model
Exploring projects: Click any marker for full details about that project. Use Reset View to re-center the map on the continental United States.
